# Schneider Electric Security Notification 14-Jan-25 Document Reference Number – SEVD-2025-014-04 Page 1 of 4 ## Web Designer for Modicon Communication Modules 14 January 2025 Overview Schneider Electric is aware of a vulnerability in its Web Designer configuration tool for the following Modicon communication modules: • BMXNOR0200H • BMXNOE0110(H) • BMENOC0311(C) • BMENOC0321(C) The Web Designer product is a software application used to create Web-based operator panels and configure operating parameters for Web human machine interface (Web HMI) devices. Failure to apply the Mitigations provided below may risk XML external entity attack, which could result in information disclosure, workstation integrity and potential remote code execution on the compromised computer. Affected Products and Versions Product Version Web Designer for BMXNOR0200H Web Designer for BMXNOE0110(H) Web Designer for BMENOC0311(C) Web Designer for BMENOC0321(C) All versions Vulnerability Details CVE ID: CVE-2024-12476 CVSS v3.1 Base Score 7.8 | High | CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H CVSS v4.0 Base Score 8.4 | High | CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N CWE-611: Improper Restriction of XML External Entity Reference vulnerability exists that could cause information disclosure, impacts workstation integrity and potential remote code execution on the compromised computer, when specific crafted XML file is imported in the Web Designer configuration tool. The severity of vulnerabilities was calculated using the CVSS Base metrics for 4.0 (CVSS v4.0). CVSS v3.1 will be still evaluated until the adoption of CVSS v4.0 by the industry. The severity was calculated without incorporating the Temporal and Environmental metrics. Schneider Electric recommends that customers score the CVSS Environmental metrics, which are specific to end-user organizations, and consider factors such as Schneider Electric Security Notification
