Analysis Summary
# Vulnerability: Maximum Severity OAuth2 SSRF in SAP Cloud SDK for Python
## CVE Details
- **CVE ID:** CVE-2026-89111
- **CVSS Score:** 10.0 (Maximum/Critical)
- **CWE:** CWE-918 (Server-Side Request Forgery)
## Affected Systems
- **Products:** SAP Cloud SDK for Python
- **Versions:** All versions prior to the October 2026 update.
- **Configurations:** Multi-tenant SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) applications utilizing the SDK for developing AI agents or Python applications.
## Vulnerability Description
A Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) flaw exists in the way the SAP Cloud SDK for Python handles OAuth2 token requests. The SDK fails to properly validate the `tenant_subdomain` parameter. An attacker can manipulate this parameter to point to a malicious, attacker-controlled server. When the application attempts to fetch an OAuth2 token, the SDK redirects the request to the rogue server, resulting in the exfiltration of sensitive client credentials.
## Exploitation
- **Status:** Not currently reported as exploited in the wild (though similar SAP flaws have been targeted historically).
- **Complexity:** Low (Can be exploited by unprivileged remote attackers).
- **Attack Vector:** Network
## Impact
- **Confidentiality:** Total (Exfiltration of OAuth2 client credentials and potential unauthorized access to BTP services).
- **Integrity:** High (Potential for further unauthorized actions using stolen credentials).
- **Availability:** Medium (Impact depends on the scope of the hijacked credentials).
## Remediation
### Patches
- Users should update to the latest version of the **SAP Cloud SDK for Python** released in the October 2026 security cycle.
- Refer to SAP Security Note for specific version numbers based on the deployment environment.
### Workarounds
- **Input Validation:** Consumer applications should implement an allowlist to validate the `tenant_subdomain` value against a list of known, registered tenant subdomains before passing the parameter to any SDK function calls.
## Detection
- **Indicators of Compromise:** Unusual outbound network traffic from BTP applications to unknown or suspicious external IP addresses/domains, specifically during OAuth2 flows.
- **Detection methods:** Audit application logs for unexpected `tenant_subdomain` values in incoming requests. Monitor for credential misuse or unauthorized access to SAP BTP services.
